Our very own Jo Madeley and Andy Unsworth took to Prolific North's Digital City Festival stage, talking up the value of Face-to-Face experiences in the digital age.
The pair presented to and were joined by Broadcast and media leaders across ITV Studios, BBC, Space Studios, North East Screen and many more, coming together at MediaCity for Digital City Festival’s Made in the North Summit & Exhibition.
Jo and Andy's detailed talk argued the enduring value of Face-to-Face experiences in light of advances in digital technology.
To summarise, the pair see Face-to-Face's role as increasingly important when it comes to creating unique, memorable and emotional experiences. There are also notable benefits over digital when it comes to encouraging creativity, creating single-minded focus and improved understanding.
In particular, Jo highlighted the power of Face-to-Face experiences for encouraging understanding and creating emotional takeaways:
"You might not remember everything you hear in person, but what you will remember is how you were made to feel in those moments"
Andy followed up by emphasising the importance of Face-to-Face's role in the creative mix. It's still doing so many things better than its digital counterparts.
"Face-to-Face is being challenged as the 'best' means of interaction...other means have benefits but they still don't compare"
Digital can, does and will always play an essential role in creating, extending, and improving experiences. But for us, Face-to-Face still wins.
